KAGRA site is in Kamioka, but the nearest large city is Toyama where you are likely to stay. To get to Toyama station from Tokyo station, take a bullet train (Hokuriku Shinkansen). JR East.

From Toyama to KAGRA office, we recommend to rent a car. It is about 1 hour drive from Toyama station to KAGRA office.NIPPON RENT-A-CAR

  • Please make a reservation on their website or call +81-3-6859-6234 before you come to Japan. They said It is not possible to accept reservations at the store. Also I recommend you to select studless tires in case of snow. Every morning, after morning meeting, we take specific car to get to KAGRA tunnnel.

It takes about 15 min from KAGRA office to KAGRA tunnel.
