iKAGRA PR2 alignment & Beam Profile Measurements

Date: 2016/3/3

Workers: Michimura,Ushiba,Furuhata,Kambara, Aso

Objectives

  • Center the beams on PR2 and PR3 mirrors
  • Measure the beam profile in front of PR2 and PR3

Procedure

  • Enter the tunnel, check necessary tools
  • Setup KOACH filters near the PR3 chamber
  • Setup KOACH filters near the PR2 chamber
  • Open the flange of PR3 (on the +X side)
  • Open the flange of PR2 (both -X and +X sides)
  • Lock the MC and send the beam from IMMT2 to PR2 with low power (<2mW)

  • Center the beam on PR2 using IMMT2 picomotors
  • Center the beam on PR3 using PR3 picomotors
  • If the beam on PR3 is too dim and difficult to align
    • Declare the laser hazard area. Distribute laser goggles to people in the center area
    • Increase the power from MC (to 25mW or so)
  • Measure the beam profile in front of PR2 using the middle size beam profiler
  • Measure the beam profile in front of PR3 using the large beam profiler
  • Stop the beam from MC
  • Declare the finish of the laser hazard
  • Close the flanges
  • Cleaning around the chambers
  • Stop KOACH filters

Necessary items, tools

  • Middle size beam profiler (Found one near the MCF clean booth. Check with Doi-san)
    • A stand to hold it at the right height
  • Large size beam profiler (Doi-san's room)
    • A height adjustable table (Found two of them near the PR3 on +Y side)
  • Two PHS phones for communication between PR and BS area clean booths (or transceivers)
  • Two sets of floor KOACH
  • Clean suits and inner ware
    • Chamber compatible type
    • Found many L and M in the laser room. For other size, we need to bring them from the data analysis building.
  • A wrench to turn the bolts for the flanges (in the red tool cabinet near PR2 clean booth)
  • A PC (or two) for controlling the picomotor (will use one of the DGS mac books)
    • Prepare a joypad as a backup (Found one in the PR2 clean booth)
  • A lot of laser goggles (In a cardboard box near the entrance to PR3 clean booth)
  • Sensor cards (check with IOO people)
  • IR viewer (Found two near the MCF chamber. Check with IOO people)

Items to be brought into the tunnel

  • Large beam profiler
  • Clean suits (except for L and LL)
  • PHS (2)

Notes

  • Divide the team of 5 into 2-2-1 (PR area - BS area - outside the clean booths)
  • Who will operate the MC ?
