Task list

Note: some of the tasks can be done in parallel.

1. Measuring optical parameters of SiC

1.2 Specular reflectance (in S- and P- polarizations)

1.3 Direct backscattering

1.4 Hemispherical scattering distribution

1.5 (Total reflectance with an integrating sphere, optional)

2. Design of the beam dump Determine the open angle of the wedge of the beam dump using the measured values of the 1-1 specular reflectance. (optional: with 1-2 and 1-3) In other words, i believe this work can be done by geometric optics, but we could use simulator (LightTools) to know the scattering from the beam dump.

3. Thermal test Input actual high-power beam density to the manufactured beam dumps somewhere laboratory, hoping they will not explode
