Progress report

Schedule Chart : (PDF,MPP)

Type-A (Takahashi)

  • Minutes of Type-A Meeting

  • Preparation of installation: The hoist tool was assembled. The pallet and the hand lifter was prepared to open the top chamber.
    • Protection net was assembled, but the diameter was too large a little. It will be made smaller.
  • EYV chamber: Top chamber was opened and the frame lock was installed.
  • BF damper: Pre-assembly of the BF damper was started.
  • Pre-isolator: The setup of assembling the pre-isolators was withdrawn from the large clean room.
  • Maraging wire: The wires were delivered on 31st January. They were sent to the thermal process on 1st February.
    • The 3.3m wire will be treated at Himeji facility of Kinzoku-giken.
  • Next week: EQ stop stages for dummy payload and BF will be assembled.

Type B (Mark)

  • Hirata-san:
    • Made BS disposable wire clamp 3Dmodel and drawings.
    • Made ballast mass drawings for BS Bottomfilter and Standardfilter.
    • Made parts list and screw list for disposable wire clamp and ballast mass.
    • Sent drawings and lists to i-ject for quotation.
    • Start to make drawings for SR big parts (optical bench, damper rings, sus wires, cable clamps) - ongoing.
  • Mark, Fabian and Enzo (at Kamioka):
    • Realized that some of the imbalance in the BF was from the fishing rod and calculated a new set of blade offsets to center the rod but leave the torque from the FR to be cancelled by the trim mass for now.
    • Applied the blade offsets and checked that the BF hung as expected.
    • Found that the yoke was rubbing again and corrected it by putting it at an angle matching the keystone.
    • Found that the cables were adding too much stiffness and friction and rerouted them.
    • Found that the GAS was unstable and reduced the compression symmetrically to get 0.37 Hz.
    • Rebalanced the IM to set the right pitch, yaw and height.
    • Tested the IM picos. Unfortunately the pitch pico stuck near or at one end of its range and we will need to take the end plate off the IM to find out what is wrong.

Type-Bp (Shoda)

  • Hanging report: IRM hanged

    • We hanged the IM and adjusted the weight.
      • The weight adjusting went very smoothly with new ballast masses :)

      • The iron small plates for the new IM OSEM flags detached easily.
    • IRM hanged and IM OSEMs are set.
      • The direction of the IM OSEM flag changes easily. It is difficult to find whether IM flag direction or OSEM direction is wrong during the OSEM adjustment.
        • Also, wide cavity OSEMs never touch to flags so far. However, alignment accuracy was reduced a lot.
    • Measured IM OSEM spectrum and IM TFs.
      • We found that OSEM noise are large and have some structure in spectra, which are coherent between 6 OSEMs.
      • YAW TF could not be measured well.

        -> Need more investigation.

  • BFRM test assembly was done except for the BFRM hanging and LVDT coil assembly. No problem so far. May need 2nd test when the suspension rods are delivered.
  • Next week task: Set the BF and the BFRM about to be hanged.

    • Implement active damping for IM and BF GAS.
    • Assemble the BF and the BFRM.
    • Set the Traverser and the SF.

IMMT (Ohishi)

  • Put a report here

Watchdog system (Tanaka)

  • Progress (this week)
    • I asked the Univ.Tokyo CO-OP to estimate electronic parts (waiting for answer).
    • I'm requesting the manufacture of PCB and metal mask on P-ban(PCB Manufacturer) (scheduled to be delivered next week).
  • Business trip plan (Kamioka)
    • Feb.8 from the afternoon to Feb.9(decided 17/02/03)

Safety

  • Incidents:
    • An M16 nut drop into the bore hole at Y-end.
  • Foreseen risks
    • Type-A: Crane work
    • Type-B: IM handling
    • Type-Bp: Transportation of the optical tables by IOO
