Progress report

Schedule Chart : (PDF,MPP)

  • Type-A: 3 weeks delay -> Aso, Takahashi and Okutomi will have a meeting on how to expedite the work on Monday morning.

  • Type-B: 2.5 weeks delay
  • Type-Bp: On Schedule. Expecting some delay due to the preparation of the real PR3 mirror (order of one week).

Type-A (Takahashi)

Past week report

Installation in Y-end:

28th(Tue)

  • Scraped the inner side of the F3 cap by a reamer and covered the cap onto the base plate of F3.
  • Put the F3 on the end plate inserting the maraging wire for BF.
  • Released the keystone of F3.

1st(Wed)

  • Started tuning of F3. Adjusted the height of F3 for the end plate.
  • Moved the EQ stop, the ballast ring, and the cross tubes to X-end.

2nd(Thu)

  • Continued tuning of F3.
  • Opened the cap of BF, and put additional 4 ballast weight.
  • Adjusted the height of release sensors for F3.
  • The inner diameter of wire cramp (small hexagon) for the suspension wire was too small.

Plan for coming weeks

  • Test of the LVDT and the FR.
  • Cabling from the BF to the F3.
  • Assembly of the BF damper.
  • Lift down the BF stage into the tube.

Type B (Mark)

Past week report

At Kamioka (Mark, Fabian, Enzo, Hirata-san):

  • With help from Kokeyama-san and Miyakawa-san, we debugged a problem with the real-time model freezing, which turned out to be the IO chassis shutting down because of brownout condition from an overloaded AC circuit. A combination of extra boxes added to the rack, plus surge current from the air shower could draw the full 20 A limit of the circuit. Awai-san ran a cable to a separate circuit and we moved the IO chassis onto that.
  • We got the stepper motor cabling and driver working, and tested the BF fishing rod stepper motor.
  • We got the LVDT cabling, driver and associated parts of the real-time model working.
  • We suspended the BF and payload to check the weight and balance after adding balance mass. The weight was spot-on and the balance was OK (about as expected and close enough to be corrected). However the height and balance of the IM was disturbed again.
  • Fabian worked on the redesign of the ballast masses.
  • Hirata-san found all the parts for the SF and the SF section of the security structure, and prepared the SF. However we then removed the Cu ring from the top cap for recleaning.
  • We worked with Sawada-san to get the wheels removed from the large stepladders so that could be put closer to the assembly frame for comfort and safety.
  • We cleaned up after a water leak from the ceiling.
  • We straightened the hexagonal poles in the bottom level of the security structure, in preparation for adding the new EQ stops for the RM.
  • Hirata-san received and washed the RM EQ stop parts.
  • We checked the L-brackets from the security structure (under the BF and SF) as suggested by Shoda-san and found a few oxidation spots. We will get them cleaned and/or re-milled

Plan for coming weeks

Next week:

  • Everyone (Mark, Fabian, Enzo, Hirata-san) at Kamioka, Monday-Friday.
  • Readjust height and balance of BF+payload, add SF.
  • Get picomotor driver working.

Week after next:

  • Everyone (Mark, Fabian, Enzo, Hirata-san) at Kamioka, Monday-Friday.
  • Continue adding SF and suspend BF.

Type-Bp (Shoda)

Past week report

  • Assembly completed!!
    • We could adjust the weight and balance the BF by removing the spider cable clamp.
    • Hashimoto-san and Miyo-kun made the temporally combiner circuit for the BF LVDTs. We could obtain signals using it.
    • All the signals and motors are checked. Actuation check for BF LVDT and SF GAS LVDT is remained.

Plan for coming weeks

  • Actuation check
  • Installation into the chamber

IMMT (Ohishi)

Past week report

Plan for coming weeks

Watchdog system (Tanaka)

Past week report

  • I'm working on design drawing for cutting of 19'rack front panel(4ch WDS Main box)(Continue as last week).
    • Drawing both for external ordering and for CNC Milling machine(Numerical control program(G-code)). PDF(JGW-E1706302)

  • Electronic parts ordered from co-op(Univ.Tokyo) have not come yet(Has not come yet!!).

Plan for coming weeks

  • Design for processing(Continuation).
  • Pending ---> I'm planning to perform surface mounting for Power board(WDS Main 4ch Box) in reflow furnace in Akihabara.Since a large PCB size( 320mm * 100mm) is required,a large reflow furnace is necessary,so it can be borrowed in Akihabara(DMM-make site. And of course, paid).

Safety

  • Incidents
    • Type-A: Dropped an Allen key into the chamber. It did not drop through the vertical tube.
      • We will make sure to always attach a chain to a tool.
  • Foreseen risks
    • Type-A: Crane work
    • Type-B: Crane work
    • Type-Bp: Installation of the entire suspension system into the chamber (Wed). Ask Shindo-san to join the work.

Discussion

VIS budget FY2017

  • Budget Sheet

  • Check the cost estimate numbers and send the sheet to Somiya-san during the weekend.
  • Aso will check the list with Takahashi on Monday.

Disposable clamps

  • Current cost estimate is very expensive: 3.8MJPY for all the suspensions.
  • Decided to buy one set of spare clamp base for each suspension (only 70,000JPY per set) and forget about the disposable plates
