Progress report

Schedule Chart : (PDF,MPP)

  • Type-A: On schedule for the updated plan (4 weeks delay from the original plan)
  • Type-B: 6.5 weeks delay
  • Type-Bp: 0.5 week delay

Type-A (Takahashi)

Past week report

Installation in Y-end:

10th(Mon)

  • Cabling between F2 and F3.

11th(Tue)

  • Delivery of the items for X-end.
  • Preparation for the transportation to X-end.
  • Tuned the F2 again.

12th(Wed)

  • Transportation of the items to X-end by MESCO with Ishizaki.
  • Compressed the blades on the F2. Obtained the frequency less than 0.3Hz.
  • Checked the FR of F2. The rage was +/- 2mm.
  • Checked the cable connection and repaired some connectors.
  • Dropped the ballast mass for F3 into the corrugate tube.

13th(Thu)

  • Checked the receptacle on the cryo-payload for the 3.3m wire.
  • Found and took the dropped ballast mass.
  • Lifted down the EQ stop and put the end plate for the F2 onto the frame lock.
  • Closed the chamber.

14th(Fri)

  • Replacement of the hoist in Y-end.

Plan for coming weeks

  • Clean the clean booth.
  • Setting the F1.
  • The wire for F2 is missing. It will be delivered on 24th.

Type B (Mark)

Past week report

At Kamioka (Mark, Fabian, Enzo, Perry, Hirata-san):

  • Filed crane adapter ring to make it fit better on the hook.
  • Debugged the BF and SF LVDTs (the signal generator had lost its settings in the rack shutdown).
  • Debugged the TM-H4 OSEM problem (a "Type 3 extension cable had gone bad).
  • Weighed eyebolts used to lie the SF.
  • Shipped the old pico driver and joystick back to Mitaka for Eleonora.
  • Borrowed a second pico driver ("PR3") and set it and "BS" up in the rack.
  • Practiced driving the BF cap picos with the new drivers.
  • (With help from Miyo-kun) got the pico MEDM screens running.
  • Replace the temporary "PR3" driver with a new one "BS_BF", and renamed "BS" to "BS_IM".
  • Checked all the DIO connections to the LPCD and connected up the HPCDs. With help from Kokeyama-san we can now see all the drivers from EPICS.
  • Worked on balancing the BF/IRM/IM... section. Sometime during this work, the IM sank and would not come back to its proper position even with the fishing rod. We put a scale under the RM and found that the imbalance was 488 g. Using the fishing rod we got this down to 235 g, but we found that the direction of the stepper was not consistently related to the direction selected on the driver screen - we had previously noted that "left" was "up, but driving "up" the imbalance would decrease to 235 g and then start increasing again, indicating the stepper had bounced off some obstacle. (There was no obvious sound when this happened, unlike at the low end.)
  • We decided to give up on tuning the height of the IM with the fishing rod and to proceed with the test hang by locking the BF keystone at the desired height.
  • Hirata-san installed the PI fishing rod and magic wand, and did more work on changing the PI LVDT connectors from female to male.
  • Enzo made many edits to the circuit diagram, adding the DIO for the HPCDs and correcting minor mistakes.

Plan for coming weeks

For more detail, see KAGRA/Subgroups/VIS/TypeB/ToDo.

Week of 4/17:

  • Install temporary ballast mass in SF.
  • Lift SF/BF/... section and check total weight and SF balance.
  • Continue swap of PI LVDT connectors (female->male)

  • Start preparing LBB spring units.

Week of 4/24:

  • Crane in PI.
  • Connect SF/BF... section.
  • Temporarily remove PI and adjust SF ballast if necessary.

Type-Bp (Shoda)

Past week report

  • RM TF measured
    • The reason that we could not measure the TF well was the polarization of the PS response are different between the two.
  • EQ stop assembled and the BF has set
    • EQ stop poles got galling. One of the poles could not be removed. Sawada-san will help us to remove it next week.
  • BF GAS calibrated
    • Lots of troubles due to the cables. We need to order them ASAP.
  • IM hanged, balanced
    • Did many iteration. There were no reproducibility of the weight and the keystone height. Also the resonant frequency did not get lower than 0.5 Hz.
    • After we changed the cabling, f0 become ~0.45 Hz without changing the mass. Later we adjusted the mass so that the keystone height is about at the designed position. (f0 did not changed by changing the mass.)
    • 0.45Hz satisfy the requirement
    • We should consider using the cable clamp on the suspension rod for the other suspensions.
  • Checked the parts and screws for PR2/PRM.
    • Parts used for iKAGRA PR2 preparation are missing.
    • Some screws are not enough.

Plan for coming weeks

  • IRM hanging
  • BF assembly/cabling
  • Postpone the OB installation test -> update the schedule (Shoda)

IMMT (Ohishi)

Past week report

  • Schedule discussed with IOO.
    • Design new parts of magnet fixture jig : May 15th-June 2nd
    • Manufacture new parts: June 5th - June 16th
    • Mirror removal from vacuum chamber: June 5th - June 16th
    • Mirrors will be sent to Kashiwa (glueing will be done by Hirose-san): June 19th-30th
    • Installation to the vacuum chamber: 3rd -7th July
    • Cabling and performance check: 10th-21th July
    • Doi-san and Kirii-san will help Mirror removal, installation, cabling and performance test.

Plan for coming weeks

Watchdog system (Tanaka)

Past week report

  • Main board(WDS main PCB) mounting components side.--> Completed( 4 prototype boards ).

  • Operational test(for WDS main PCB).
    • Completion of S/W write operation test(preliminary test).

Plan for coming weeks

  • Start operation test of system.

Safety

  • Incidents:
    • X end fire alarm. Ishizaki-san was working alone at the time. Avoid working alone in the future.
    • Type-A team dropped a small ballast mass into the vertical tube. -> put aluminum foil between the EQ stop rings and the inner wall of the tube.

  • Foreseen risks
    • Type-A: crane works
    • Type-B: crane works
    • Type-Bp: crane works
  • Shield safety blocks were installed to the PR clean booth.
    • They work fine
    • Ishizaki-san will get a quote for additional three of them
    • Aso will see the BS clean booth situation on Wednesday

Discussion

  • BS BF blades
    • We will make new blades (6 of them) to replace with the existing suspicious ones.
    • Target date for production: End of May
    • Takahashi will ask ATC people about their availability for cutting the blades
  • Missing parts
    • We have several components missing from the BS area after iKAGRA
    • Aso will send an email to entire KAGRA to gather more information
  • Cables
    • We need to sort out the current situation
    • We also need to set up a system to keep track of the cables.
    • Shoda and Mark will send the information on the necessary cables for Type-B & Bp to Aso, Takahashi and Sato.

    • Aso, Takahashi and Sato will have a meeting at the lunch time on Wednesday.
