bKAGRA preparation

• Three big categories of the tasks
  • Type-A: Leader = Takahashi, Okutomi, Ishizaki, a new engineer
  • Type-B (BS and SRC): Leader = Mark, Fabian, Hirata
  • Type-Bp modification: Leader = Shoda, Fujii, A new technician (?)

• Quick summary, week to 3/18
  • Hirata-san made assembly drawings of IM and IMR. IM is almost finished. IMR is still on going.
  • Fabian designed the ballast masses for the payload.
  • Mark confirmed flag concept #4 was easy to make and made concept #5 with no flag tip.
  • Mark/Fabian worked on procedure docs
  • Mark surveyed BS clean booth area while at Kamioka (still need longer trip to discuss with site people).
  • Assorted quotes received.
• BS prism preparation (Mark)
  • We decided to order 6 to Shinko-sha
    • Meeting with company set for 3/24 in Yokohama.

    • Aso will check with Ohashi-san about the budget -> we can place an order now.

    • We will use the sapphire prisms for the test hanging too
    • Since we need to go forward on the BS and we can't make a decision on SR, we decided to go with tall 6.28 mm prisms, which saves adjusting other parts.
• Can we make SR wire breakers bigger ?

  • Optic flag design
    • Hirata-san confirmed with ATC that "BS Optic Flag Concept 4 (Small Magnet, Small Hole).pdf" would be easy to make.
  • IM Flag design
    • Fabian improved rigid IM flag design ("BS_IM_flag_Concept_Screwed2.pdf")
    • Mark would (still) like to make a test flag with magnetic attachment.
    • Mark designed a tool for aligning the magnetically self-assembling IM flag design (drawing to be posted, hopefully before meeting).
  • Widen the OSEM opening (Akutsu)
  • Discussed a possibility to remove the sensing function from the mirror OSEM.
    • Chop off the flag part from the magnet holder
      • Safer (less possibility of flag damage)
      • Wider range

    • OpLev with two QPD sensors may be used instead to sense the longitudinal motion (Virgo is doing this)

    • Question is whether the sensing noise is good enough or not
    • Raffaele will look for documents/data in Virgo

    • Akutsu will consider if this option is possible in KAGRA OpLev

• Thinking about a possibility of testing the long filter chain using the prototype EQ stop in Kashiwa.

• Organize a kick-off meeting in the later half of March, concentrating on the room temperature part. (Takahashi) -> Plese reply to the Doodle request.

• Prototype long maraging rods (heat treated) were delivered from Aoyama
  • Will start the test in the TAMA west end room using the dummy loads we have.
  • Check the drift of the length
• Simultion: Okutomi will work with Fujii
  • Will have a draft simulation results by the Type-A kick-off meeting.
• #Type-A Filters Optimal Load Measurements

  • #Takahashi will make a plan for the optimal load check and ask ATC.-> Check two filters per month from April 2016. -> Will be presented to the ATC steering committee.

  • #How to manufacture the long maraging wires ?
    • One prototype was machined by Ojima

    • Aoyama can do the heat treatment for the long rod. Will ask them soon (Takahashi) -> Still waiting for a quotation.

    • How to test it ?
      • We can use the prototype assembly frame in TAMA.

Type-Bp modification

  • Need a box for stepping motor driver. Miyakawa-san is thinking about ordering chassis and boxes for motors. We discussed and agreed that the design of the boxes will be unified. The boxes will be designed and ordered together with those. (16/03/10)
