Basic Lecture of GW for grad/undergrad students in Japanese (August 23)

Outline of the meeting

• The 23rd F2F meeting will be held at University of Toyama, as usual as our summer event. We will discuss both our latest achievements and our managements.
  • LOC: Moriwaki-san and Yamamoto(Yamagen)-san.

    If you have ideas and requests to the program, please mail them to the board, kscboard_at_icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp , by March 1. Registration page will open in mid-March.

  • We welcome contribution talks and poster presentations (with short talk). We will give "Poster Award" for two students by vote.

    Registration page -- The deadline is April 10 (Wed) 23:59 JST.

  • Registration was closed. We have 137 participants.

  Registration webpage here If you made registration twice, we will replace all of your information from the previous one. If you missed to register, please do so at the registration desk. We will collect coffee-and-snack fee at the registration desk; 1,000 JPY for a staff/postdoc, 500 JPY for a student. We will have the meeting dinner in the evening of April 20(Sat) at the cafeteria of Kashiwa campus. 4,000 JPY for a staff, 3,000 JPY for a postdoc/student.

  Graduate students who will submit thesis (Master thesis/Doctoral thesis) by March 2019 are supposed to make thesis presentations (both oral and poster) in this meeting.

• Satellite meeting on Future Upgrades will be held at on August 21 afternoon. Satellite meeting on Future Upgrades will be held at Univ. of Tokyo Hongo campus on April 18. See web page for details. Satellite meeting on Data Analysis will be held in the evening of the first day (April 19).

  • Satellite meeting on calibration and related grants projects will be held the day after (April 22).

• This is a closed meeting of the KAGRA collaboration.
  • If you are a member of the KAGRA collaboration and have recently moved to a new place: Contact the KSC board. You will be requested to make an introduction of your new laboratory at the meeting.
  • If you want to join the KAGRA collaboration: Contact the KSC board. You are supposed to make a presentation on your proposal at the meeting.

• By the end of June: KSC board accepts your proposals and/or suggestions of the sessions, satellite meetings, style of the meetings, or any other requests.

• July 1: Visa document request deadline.

• July 16: registration will start.

• July 31: registration deadline for KAGRA site tour participants.

• August 7: registration closed.

• Posters can be posted only for the first two days. Please remove your poster before the meeting dinner. (We could not book the poster room on the last day.)

Visa, Invitation Letter

• If you don’t need visa, but you need only an invitation letter, please send an email to KSC board chair,

• If you need visa to enter Japan, please fill the following document (Word,PDF), and send it to Masafumi Kurachi by July 1st, 2019.

  • You can find the detailed procedure to apply VISA at the web site of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html

  • Note that you can not apply for VISA only with the invitation letter. You have to submit special documents for VISA which are prepared by Japanese side.
  • Even if you ask ICRR for an invitation letter with an institute stamp, we can not provide it. We can provide an invitation letter without an institute stamp, and a working proof for one of professors.

Travel Support (oversea)

• Core to Core program can support your local expense if you belong to an institute/university in Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam or India. Firstly, please contact to a cordinator of C2C in your country.

Travel Support (domestic)

• Core-to-Core program also can support domestic travel expenses for several KAGRA collaborators who belong to institutes/universities in Japan and who will attend F2F@U-Toyama and give presentations. Graduate students and postdoc researchers have priorities for this support.

Access

• From Tokyo, one can either take JR Hokuriku-Shinkansen express (train, 2h10m) or fly from the Tokyo-Haneda airport (55min).
• From the Toyama airport, one can take a bus to the Toyama station (410 JPY).
• From the Toyama station to the university, one can take a tram to "Daigaku-mae" (Note that there is also a loop tram that does not go to Daigaku-mae).

KAGRA site tour

• We plan to organize KAGRA-site tour on August 21 (afternoon, start 15:30 at Univ. Toyama, 15:40 pick up at station) and/or August 24 (after F2F finished, start 15:30 at Univ. Toyama). The tour includes the visit of the control room and tunnel, together with some explanation of the accommodation of the shift-takers. Both tour will take 5 hours and return to the Toyama station.
• If you are interested in this tour, please click your preference day. We will rent a (small) bus for round-trip (paid by ICRR).

Some more details:

• We accept this tour registration by July 31. Please finish your registration by July 31.
• You need to prepare your snack and drink (if you need) by yourself in advance.
• The KAGRA tunnel is wet and muddy. Please wear a long sleeve shirt, a casual pants and shoes which may be stained.
• Please understand we limit the number of participants due to the bus capacity. If the applicants are too many, then we may first choose participants from non-Japanese institutes, then second pick up young researchers.
• The bus capacity is 22 (+6 extra sheets).
• We closed the tour entry. For whom made entry, the information has sent.
