25th KAGRA face-to-face meeting

  • 17 (Fri) - 19 (Sun) April 2020 JST

The 25th face-to-face (F2F) meeting will be held at ICRR in the Kashiwa campus of the University of Tokyo. We welcome your contributions for oral and/or poster presentations with flash talks; two posters from students will be awarded based on voting by the participants as usual (to be confirmed).

  • Registration page is not yet opened. LOC will ask fee for coffee and snacks at the registration desk; xxxx JPY for a staff/postdoc, xxxx JPY for a student.

  • Satellite meetings are TBD.
  • Graduate students who will submit thesis (Master thesis/Doctoral thesis) by August 2020 are supposed to make thesis presentations (both oral and poster) in this meeting.

  • We will organize a banquet on the evening of April 17 (Fri) at the cafeteria of the Kashiwa Campus; the banquet fee is XXXX JPY for a staff/postdoc, XXXX JPY for a student, and XXXX JPY for an accompanying person.
  • The f2f meeting is closed for members of the KAGRA collaboration, the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC), and Virgo collaboration.
    • If you are a member of the KAGRA collaboration and have recently moved to a new place: contact the KSC board. You will be requested to make an introduction of your new laboratory at the meeting.
    • If you want to join the KAGRA collaboration: please read FAQ and the guideline first. You are supposed to make a presentation on your proposal at the meeting.

Poster session

Because of the limited time for the meeting, sometimes the poster presentation is quite useful for you to share and discuss your activities deeply with the other collaborators. It is a nice opportunity especially for young researchers to appeal yourself. As usual, we will organize poster award for two students!!

Visas and/or invitation letters

You can find the detailed procedure to apply for a visa at the web site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Note that you can not apply for the visa with only invitation letters; for the visa application, you have to submit special documents that are prepared by Japanese side. If you need a visa to enter Japan, please fill one of the following documents (Word,PDF; these are updated since the last f2f meeting), and send it as soon as possible (the earlier the better) or by strictly the 29th of February, 2020 (JST) to Masafumi Kurachi,

Travel support

International travel

Our Core-to-Core (C2C) program can support your local expenses if you belong to universities/institutes in the following countries: Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, or India. Firstly, please contact to a coordinator of the C2C program in your country.

Domestic travel

It might be possible that ICRR would support domestic travel expenses for students and/or post-doctoral researchers who will have one or more poster/oral presentations at the f2f meeting, in case their universities or institutes could not provide their travel expenses; please consult with the secretary's office of ICRR-GW,

If you are a student, firstly please consult with your supervisor, and then ask the supervisor to contact the secretary's office of ICRR-GW from the supervisor.

The meeting room is on the 6th floor of Kashiwa Research Complex, Building No. 15 of this map, which is in the east wing of the ICRR building at the Kashiwa campus of the University of Tokyo.

From Kashiwa-no-ha Campus station to ICRR (10 minutes by bus)

From Kashiwanoha Campus station of the Tsukuba express line, there is a shuttle bus operated by the university. The shuttle departs in front of Mitsui Garden Hotel (near Tully's Coffee). It is free for visitors. The time table of the shuttle bus is here

You can also take a bus operated by Tobu bus company; the time table is here. When you exit from the station gate, go to left, and it is the west side of the station. You can see a big shopping mall (LaLaPort Kashiwanoha) in front of the station. From the bus stop number 1 (in front of MacDonald), take a bus Number 03 (to "Nagareyama Ootaka no Mori"), or 04(to "Edogawadai"), and get off at "Kokuritsu Gan Kenkyu Center" (National Cancer Research Center). Or from the same bus stop number 1, take a bus Number 10 (to "Edogawadai"), and get off at "Todai mae" (in front of University of Tokyo). National Cancer Research Center is located in front of the University of Tokyo. It is about 4 minutes walk to ICRR. Please see the map above.

From JR Kashiwa station to ICRR (30 minutes by bus)

From the bus stop Number 2 of West side of Kashiwa station, take a bus Number 01 or 44(to "Kokuritsu Gan Kenkyu Center"), and get off at the final stop, "Kokuritsu Gan Kenkyu Center" (National Cancer Research Center).
