2017/2/17 13:30 -
Participants: Shoda, Takahashi, Ishizaki, Tanaka, Hirata, Enzo, Mark, Aso, Fabian, Ohishi, Sato
Progress report
- Type-A: 2 weeks delay
- Type-B: Half a week delay
- Type-Bp: 1 week delay
Type-A (Takahashi)
Past week report
Installation in Y-end:
13th(Mon)
- Installed the protection net to the bottom of cross tube.
- Released the keystone of BF. The weight of dummy payload was near the optimal load of BF.
14th(Tue)
- Tuned the weight of dummy payload.
- Started cabling around the BF and the dummy payload. Finished on 16th.
15th(Wed)
- Started making the short cable for the LVDT on BF. Not finished.
- Prepared the LVDT driver with the oscillator and the oscilloscope.
16th(Thu)
- Cariblated the LVDT on BF.
- Checked the range of FR on BF. It was about 2mm. Additional blades are necessary.
MISC
- The setup of EQ stop for prototype test was withdrawn from ATC on 17th.
- The 3.3m maraging wire will be treated at Himeji facility of Kinzoku-giken. It takes one month.
Plan for coming weeks
- Adjust the BF.
- Assemble the BF damper.
- Assemble the EQ stop for F3 and set the F3.
Discussion
- 3.3m rod delivery may be mid-March. How to install it after that ?
- Try to proceed the installation as much as possible. Then lift up the EQ stop to install the rod.
* Fishing rod issue.
- Fishing rods are too weak to move the filters
- Use two blades stacked together to increase the sttifness
- Lower the resonant frequency of the GAS by compressing the blades a bit more
- Fabricate thicker blades
Using fishing rods to sit the filters is too weak to firmly put the filters on the EQ stop. -> We need to revise the installation procedure.
- Discussed solution
- Put the stop screws of the GAS blades close to the key stone ~ 2mm
- Bring down the whole chain so that the key stones hit the stop screws
- We need to put a gradually increasing space between the bottom of the filters and the EQ stop from bottom to up.
- When the filters sit on the EQ stop, the suspension rods may unhook.
- To prevent this, we will a viton O-Ring to a small piece and push it into the receptacle to fix the nail head of the suspension rods.
- Takahashi will update the installation procedure.
- Discussed solution
Type B (Mark)
Past week report
- Hirata-san:
- Worked on the PR optic removal jig.
- Worked on getting modified quotes for PR/SR/BS parts.
- Enzo-san
- Worked on getting his drivers license.
- Worked on getting familiar with the Type B circuit diagram.
- Mark, Fabian (at Kamioka):
- Tried different strategies for getting the IRM-IM EQ stops and IRM OSEMs to line up simultaneously.
- Realized that the main problem was that the pitch of the BS had changed relative to the IM (presumably due to slight slippage of the wires) so the IM had to be pitched up by 16 mrad to get the BS pitched slightly down (4.7 mrad).
- Took the sides off the IRM to get access to the clamps and tightened them to prevent further slips.
- Rebalanced the IM to be level in pitch (and roll).
- Reassembled the IRM and aligned the IRM-IM EQ stops - this time it was easy.
- Adjusted the IRM and RM OSEMs to mid-range.
- Got Kokeyama's new real-time model working and started TFs.
Plan for coming weeks
- Try to find ballast masses from other filters etc.
- Install standard filter in the later half of the week
- Proceed with the hardware installation as much as possible.
- Fabian and Hirata-san will work on design issues in a TF measurement phase
Type-Bp (Shoda)
Past week report
- Checked the optical bench suspension parts
- Optical bench magnetic damper is in Akeno, delivered on Feb. 27th.
- Jigs to arrange magnets on the optical bench magnetic damper is not designed nor procured.
Diameter of the head of the suspension rods are different from what we ordered. -> Asking company to make the correct ones.
Hooking screws cannot go smoothly even they are SDC coated. -> Asking to make the new ones loosely.
- Cu plates for eddy current damping are oxidized so much. They do not look clean. just covered by bubble packs.
Discuss with Saito-san in Kamioka on Monday on how to deal with this
- Assembled the whole stages
- Not suspended yet.
- Found the holes for suspension rods are too small. The company made a mistake on the drawing update.
- Two plates at Kamioka will be sent to the company. The other plate was re-machined at Mitaka.
- Cabling around BF takes a lot of time...
- BF LVDT temporally circuits were made by Miyo-kun, Someya-san, and Hashimoto-san.
- Second test assembly of BFRM at Mitaka
ATC re-machined the holes for suspension rods. -> Will be sent to Kamioka.
- BFRM was properly suspended.
Plan for coming weeks
Suspend BF & BFRM
- Adjust weight of the BF
- place the ballast masses and balance it
- Set LVDT coils on BFRM and check signals
- Traverser parts will be replaced by Uraguchi-san
Long term to do
- Calibration of BF LVDT
- Check acceleration during the installation using the chain-block and jacks
IMMT (Ohishi)
Past week report
Plan for coming weeks
Watchdog system (Tanaka)
Past week report
- Items that have been delivered.
- PCB + Metal mask( for Main board(WSD) )
- Cream solder
- Redesign(Front panel board for Main 4ch WDS Box and front panel for Ex-I/O Box)Adjust the spacing of the front panel conectors.

Project-WDS Peripheral circuit PCB Design Version 2(Detail)PDF JGW-E1706265
Project-WDS Ex-I/O PCB Design Ver 1(Summary)PDF JGW-E1706268
Project-WDS Ex-I/O PCB Design Ver 1(Detail)PDF JGW-E1706267
Plan for coming weeks
- I'm planning to perform surface mounting for Power board(WDS Main 4ch Box) in reflow furnace in Akihabara.Since a large PCB size( 320mm * 100mm) is required,a large reflow furnace is necessary,so it can be borrowed in Akihabara(DMM-make site. And of course, paid).
- Aso will send a 15-pin cable to Tanaka
Safety
- Incidents: Dropped small parts during assembly (Type-Bp). Try to wear tightly fitting gloves.
- Foreseen risks
- Type-A: Crane work
- Type-B: SF crane work
- Type-Bp: Crane work
- General discussion
- Ishizaki will find belblocks to prevent falling from ladders.
Discussion
- Mirror disassembly jigs (Hirata)
- The design looks good. Go ahead to make 2D drawings.
