Progress report

Schedule Chart : (PDF,MPP)

• Type-A: Y-End: Finish the test on schedule although incomplete. X-End: 1 week delay
• Type-B: 6 weeks delay for the real BS hanging. Mark and Aso will discuss how to fit the schedule.
• Type-Bp: Current end date of the PRM (not PR2) installation is mid-Sept.

Type-A (Takahashi)

Past week report

• Installed the hand lifter and pallets.

3rd(Mon)

• Checked the ACCs with the driver.

4th(Tue)

• No site work.

5th(Wed)

• Adjusted the height of keystone in the TF. The FR was set at the lowest position.
• Adjusted the height of SF damper.
• Adjusted the yaw of wire receptacle in the TF.
• Attached the secondary coils for BF damper.

6th(Thr)

• Set the LVDT drives for the BF damper.
• Closed the feedtrough flanges.
• Removed the spacers under the F3.
• Checked cable connection for the ACCs.
• Closed the chamber.

7th(Fri)

• Checked whether the 2.4m wire could be installed from the cryostat.
• Adjusted the position of BF damper.

Weekend

• Measure the transfer functions.

Plan for coming weeks

• Remove the DP.
• Test the connection with the cryo-payload.
• Start the pre-assembly of BF damper in X-end.

Type B (Mark)

Past week report

At Kamioka (Enzo):

• Enzo (with help from Miyo-kun) fixed the broken actuation coil on PI LVDT #0.
• Enzo worked on the final cabling plan for BS and SRx.
• Enzo replaced the LVDT driver again to have one with no dead channels (and free up the partly non-working cards for servicing).

At Mitaka and Kashiwa (Mark, Hirata-san, Fabian, Enzo):

• We glued magnets into their holders.
• We did a walk-through of the gluing procedure at Mitaka and discovered that the secondary prisms were missing.
• We took the mirror box and gluing tools to Kashiwa to do as much of the gluing as possible.
• Hirose-san applied First Contact to the BS and he and Kieran moved it into the mirror box.
• We practiced putting sapphire prisms on the BS but didn't apply glue.
• We tried the magnet gluing jigs designed by Aso-san and found two major issues: the overall length was about 25 mm too long, and there was no adjustment to allow for the wedge.
• We designed a simple modification to the jigs that hopefully would be trivial for the ATC to do: the jigs will be cut in half and the bottom section will be mounted with adhesive on an 11 mm rod that slides in the central hole of the top section. Thus the top half can be screwed into the existing recess, and the bottom half with the magnets and glue can be allowed to drop about 3 mm onto the face of the optic. Hirata-san worked with ATC to get this done.
• Hirata-san also got ATC to make some jigs to hold the old 5-mm prisms so that they can be ground down to 3 mm to replace the missing ones. Hirata-san did grinding himself.
• We decided to continue the gluing work at Kamioka, so we brought the BS back to Mitaka and will ship it on to Kamioka next Tuesday.
• Hirata-san did a version of the 3D CAD with the as-built BS Test Hang configuration.

Plan for weeks of 7/10, 7/17

Mark, Enzo mostly at Kamioka.

• More TFs.
• Receive BS at Kamioka, do gluing if possible.
• Document LVDT driver rebuild and other changes.
• Learn how Miyo-kun's pico driver software works and make fixes/improvements.
• Design/install matrices, blend filters and damping filters.
• Finish tidying rack and labeling cables.
• Add temporary ballast to LBB and find total required.
• Try rearranging arc weights to make room for magic wand.
• Start on creating SR3 rack.
• Preparation for BF rebuild.

Fabian, Hirata-san at Mitaka.

• Clean BS secondary prisms and modified gluing jigs (Hirata-san).
• Ship gluing tools and BS to Kamioka.
• Do new 3D CAD for final BS install (Hirata-san):
  • On-assembly-frame version.
  • In-tank version.
• Design SR assembly frame (Fabian).
• Do 2D Drawings and procurement of final IM/BF/SF ballast masses (Hirata-san).
• Other purchasing and preparation (spare BS clamps, suspension wire, 8-mm rod receptacles)
• Do mass budget for LBB - design ballast masses (Fabian)

Type-Bp (Shoda)

Past week report

• YES! GLUED!!
  • We changed the mirror box. And asked Takahashi-san to glue it. And it worked.

• Mirror & RM is hanged

  • We found that the mirror is tilted a lot in the final state. We checked the tilt after fixing the suspension wires, and before removing the mirror box. The mirror was tilted by about 3 mrad.
  • We noticed the mirror was tilted by about 15 mrad after we finished the RM hanging. We are not sure why.
  • In order to get rough idea where the mirror is now, we checked the length of the EQ stop screws coming out from the RM. Then, we found the mirror should be thinner than what the database is saying.

• -> How to fix it?

  • compensate the balance using IM should be OK. But we do not have a good reference so far.
  • The mirror thickness is really different from the design??
• Transfer function measurement is on going.
  • I checked only the TY in YAW, which seems to be OK so far.
• Checked the geophone assembly for Type-A and B.
  • The dimension seems to be wrong. We could not assembled it.

• Creation of extended I/O PCB(plot type (With the Main 4ch WDS box and I/O box,I/O board For relay).-->

• Start production of equipment(As soon as parts are delivered).

• Try to see what is mechanically wrong from TFs.

Type-Bp

• The FC area on the AR is too large for the leveling OpLev

  • Try to see if we can use the HR side: ROC is -3.0764m
• Check the mechanical imbalance of the TM by actuating the IM horizontally and measuring the coupling into the TM pitch.
