Agenda/Minutes of the VIS Meeting on 2017/8/4
2017/8/4 13:30 - 15:00
Participants: Mark, Ishizaki, Sato, Okutomi, Aso, Tanaka, Hirata, Shoda, Akutsu
Progress report
- Type-A: On schedule
- Type-B: 1 day delay
- Type-Bp: 1 week ahead of the schedule
Type-A (Takahashi)
Past week report
- BF suspended
- Assembling small hexagons
- F3 height: 70 mm from EQ-stop
- Load tuning of F3
- Keystone height: 75.0 mm (initial state: no cables, no primary coils, 4 moving masses)
- Optimal keystone height: 70.0 mm
- Optimal ballast weight: ~ 600 g
- Fine tuning with spectrum measurement
- Cabling
- Tags attached on the connectors
- Short connectors made and attached on the BF side
- Intermediate cables for BF LVDTs ready to set
- Cabling from BF to F3 almost completed
- Small adjustment will be applied (e.g. tension, length, ...)
- Calibration of BF LVDT
- All the LVDTs are calibrated with assignment of primary coil-secondary coils combination
- Calibration of F3 GAS LVDT
- -4.451 +/- 0.106 [count/um]
- Installation of BF LVDT primary coils
- Wrong angular phase between BF cap and support rings of primary coils are corrected by rotating BF body (=disc+cap) by 90 deg
- Side clamp bases are detached during the rotation and re-attached to close positions before rotation
- Now all the cable clamps are recovered
- Cable assignment of No.01 lower connector and No.14 upper connector are swapped
- Now all the cable clamps are recovered
- Tilt adjustment of BF
- After cabling and BF LVDT installation, we remove one moving mass on the BF
- Without removing the moving mass, the F3 keystone height is 63 mm
- With 3 moving masses, we should put ~ 200 g more weight on the BF (= keystone height: 70.0 mm)
- We’re finding better configuration of the moving masses and additional ballast mass to realize horizontal tilt of the BF
- After cabling and BF LVDT installation, we remove one moving mass on the BF
Plan for coming weeks
- Fine load tuning on the F3 GAS
- Movable range confirmation of F3 Fishing Rod
- Tilt adjustment of BF
- Small cabling works (e.g. ones for BF LVDT primary coils)
- Continuity check for cables
- Height adjustment of Release Sensors for F3
- Lowering the whole chain
Type B (Mark)
Past week report
At Kamioka (Mark, Ohishi-san, Enzo, Yoshioka-kun, Kozu-kun):
- We finished installing the RM OSEMs and installed the new Type5-2.2 and 5-2.4 OSEM cables.
- We hung the RM and set its pitch.
- We doubled-checked the BS and RM pitch, tightened the clamps and removed the winch system.
- We installed the bottom section of the security structure to protect the RM/BS.
- We lifted the IM/RM/BS section and weighed it. It was about 1.25 kg too heavy for the new BF, so we improvised a lighter set of ballast masses.
- We installed the section of the security structure up to the BF ring, and the BF crossbars and jacks of the assembly frame.
- We brought in the new BF.
- We installed the BF-IRM rods and IRM top plate.
- We reinstalled the IM flags and other items that had been taken off to use the winch system.
- We hooked the BF-IM rod (with hex cable clamp). (We did not unlock the BF keystone.)
- We cabled and tested the IM-PIT, IM-ROL and IM-YAW picos and the BF FR stepper (but not, yet, the BF LVDT).
Plan for week of 8/14
Site closure: Mon, Tue
Vacation: Fabian (Mon-Fri)
Kamioka: Mark (Wed-Fri), Enzo (Wed-Fri), Yoshioka-kun (Wed, Fri), Ohishi (Thu-Fri).
- Remove LBB blade units from PI, then remove blades and send for remachining.
- Remove LBB rings from chamber and send for recleaning.
- Unlock BF, adjust ballast masses on IM/RM/BS to correct pitch/roll/vertical.
- Test, calibrate BF LVDT.
Mitaka: Hirata-san (Mon-Fri)
- SR Stuff
Plan for week of 8/21
Vacation: Fabian (Mon)
Kamioka: Mark, Ohishi, Fabian (Tue-Fri), Enzo, Yoshioka-kun (Tue, Wed, Fri), Kozu-kun.
- Install side panels of IRM and OSEMs.
- Route IRM OSEM cables, test/adjust IRM OSEMs.
- Add BF cap; cable and test BF-1 and BF-2 picos.
- Lift and weigh BF/IRM/IM/RM/BS; adjust ballast mass.
- Crane in SF.
Mitaka: Hirata-san.
- SR stuff.
Vacation Info
Fabian: Fri 8/4 through Mon 8/21 Mark: TBD Mid-Oct
Type-Bp (Shoda)
Past week report
- PR2 Installed!
- We checked the TFs to confirm the suspension status.
- With the help of Kimura-san, Sawada-san, and Aso-san, we installed PR2 suspension into the chamber.
- The FC on the AR side is removed. And suspension is released.
- The cabling is done. All the signals are online now.
- The optical bench was suspended, but the distance between the center of the mirror and the upper surface of the optical bench is now about 390 mm, which is 10 mm less than design.
- We could not make it as design because of un-removable spacers under the optical bench.
- We found some screws needs to be replaced to the ones with vent holes later.
- PRM mirror preparation
- Now the gluing is going on.
Plan for coming weeks
- PRM assembly
- PRM will be shipped to Kamioka. (Mon)
- Circuit box arrangement and cabling (Mon)
- New winch will be shipped (Tue)
- PRM Traverser will be shipped (Tue)
- PRM IM assembly (Tue)
- PRM assembly frame status check (Tue)
- PRM Top plate and Traverser assembly (Tue)
- Mirror hanging (Wed)
- RM hanging (Thu)
IMMT (Ohishi)

Plan for coming weeks
Creation of extended I/O PCB(plot type (With the Main 4ch WDS box and I/O box,I/O board For relay).-->Ongoing.

Other site works
- 8/11-8/15 KAGRA site closed
- 8/23-24 Draft Chamber Installation
- End of Aug. to Nov.: Mozumi entrance will be closed
Safety
- Incidents: No
- Foreseen risks
- Type-A: Crane down the suspension
- Type-B: Measure the weight of payload part
- Type-Bp: Mirror hanging
Discussion
- Distance between the optical breadboard and the beam.
- Current height
- PR2: 390 (cannot lower the bench anymore)
- PR3: 400 ?
- AOS wants the height to be shorter.
- Shoda (Type-Bp) and Hirata (Type-B) will check how much the breadboard height can be changed
- After the adjustable range is confirmed, VIS will contact other subsystems to decide on the nominal height of the breadboards.
- Current height
- Blade springs for the Type-B breadboards
- Currently the optimal load is 300kg.
- The breadboard assembly is about 220kg.
- We will make narrower blades to reduce the load to 250kg.
- The SUS rods to suspend the breadboard can hold about 250kg with a safety factor of 2.
