KAGRA face to face meeting
Date: Aug 1(Thu)- Aug 3(Sat), 2013
Location: Multiple-purpose hall, Faculty of science, Gofuku campus, University of Toyama
F2F meeting
The face-to-face meeting of KAGRA Collaboration will be held at Gofuku campus of the University of Toyama from the 1st to the 3rd of the August, 2013. The objective of this meeting is to let all collaboration members know the current status of KAGRA and is to exchange information among different sub-systems for coherently and efficiently conducting the project. We may have to discuss unsolved problems that have been studied by the special working groups and will make decisions if possible. After the meeting of the 1st of August, International Board of Representatives will be held on. On the evening of the 2nd of August, we will have a banquet.
In this meeting, there are some special events. On the 31st of July, the day before this meeting, KAGRA Summer School on Gravitational Waves 2013 (Lecture about gravitational wave detection for beginners) and sites tour of KAGRA and CLIO will be held. On the night of the 1st of August, you can enjoy firework festival supported by Kita-Nihon Newspaper.
I hope in this meeting that we have wide and deep discussions to find the best ways to fulfill the scientific objectives of KAGRA.
Kazuaki Kuroda

KAGRA and CLIO site tour on the 31st of July 2013
3km two tunnels for KAGRA are being excavated in Kamioka mine. The CLIO (Cryogenic Laser Interferometer Observatory) interferometer with 100 m baselines in Kamioka mine is the prototype for KAGRA. Two papers about CLIO were published in Physical Review Letters (K. Agatsuma et al., "Direct Measurement of Thermal Fluctuation of High-Q Pendulum" and T. Uchiyama et al., "Reduction of Thermal Fluctuations in a Cryogenic Laser Interferometric Gravitational Wave Detector"). In this tour, you can check both KAGRA and CLIO sites !
- Attendees go from University of Toyama or Toyama station after lunch and come back before dinner by a bus or cars prepared by Kamioka branch of Gravitational Wave Project Office (Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, the University of Tokyo).
- Kamioka branch has already told you whether you take bus or car. In any cases, let Kamioka branch know the year and date of your birth (they are necessary for insurance) BY the 23RD OF JULY.
- If you take the bus, please tell Kamioka branch whether you take and get off the bus at the University of Toyama or Toyama station BY the 23RD OF JULY.
- If you take car, you can check only KAGRA site (not CLIO site). Please contact your driver and discuss the details of schedule.
- Please have lunch before you get on the bus (or car) or bring your own lunch to eat in the bus.
- Please bring your own drink or snack you need (We recommend you to bring something to drink!). There is no store near Kamioka branch. In short, you cannot buy something to eat and drink until the end of this tour, around 7:30 pm.
- Here is the schedule of BUS. If you take a car, please contact your driver and discuss the details of schedule.
