LCGT Auxiliary Optics Subsystem (AOS)

Objectives

The objectives of the subgroup "Auxiliary Optics System" (AOS) is to have the other LCGT subgroups design and complete the auxiliary optics that physically, logically and consistently glue the main parts of the LCGT interferometer together.

General Description

Most of the AOS shall be fit to the vacuum chambers that had been already determined when the AOS group was established. Even if the vacuum chamber was not designed considering the space allocated for AOS, AOS are required for fully operating LCGT, so we shall, by any means, pack them into the vacuum chambers if required.

• Stray Light Control

  • Including beam baffles, output Faraday isolators, and calculation of BRDF of test masses...

• Pick-off and transmit telescopes

  • Auxiliary cavity-locking system (Green laser one) itself should be considered in MIF or IOO. The effort of system designing should be separated from that of engineering and fabricating from the WBS point of view (or what-you-call system engineering) even if the person assigned to both is the same.

• Optical Lever

  • Optical lever is a kind of local sensors, but unlike other local sensors, it requires long beam lines as lever's arms, thus this should be considerd in AOS.

• CCD monitors

• Viewports on Vacuum Chambers

• Beam Shutters

• Beam Targets in Arms

• Beam Mode Profiler

• Initial Alignment

• Other local sensors/monitors/actuators?
• Any other optics, outside breadboard,...
• Squeezing system??
• Maybe mainly VIS group's charge and not AOS's:

  • Local Sensors and Actuators (LIGO's OSEM-like things utilized in vibration isolation system)

  • Violine mode sensors or Wire position sensors (utilized in vibration isolation system or in noise-hunting phase)
